Kristy is a New Zealand illustrator currently living and working in Vancouver, Canada. She graduated from Massey University of Wellington in 2010 with a Bachelor of Design, but is mainly self-taught in illustration. Working back and forth between watercolour and digital, she specialises in children’s illustration and is passionate about picture books. Much of her inspiration stems from the picture book’s ability to encapsulate the magic, wonder and intensity of childhood. Having worked previously as a nanny, Kristy loved reading to kids and was drawn to the shared experience of storytelling between adult and child. Being a big kid herself, she enjoys collecting miniature toys and watching Pixar/Disney animations. As an illustrator (who naturally tends to draw a lot), she finds nothing more rewarding than observing the way those initial ideas for a character evolve with a mind of their own.
